PURPOSE:
The Certificate in Christian Ministry offers basic biblical, theological, and lay ministry training to Namibians with limited educational backgrounds or finances who want to be actively involved in their churches and communities. The Certificate in Christian Ministry (Level 3) is only presented in a distance learning format, which means that students can pursue studies within their context and be part of local NETS learning communities.
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates will be well-equipped to describe the message of the Bible within their respective situations in their churches, communities, and personal lives. This will enable them to serve their communities as committed Christians.
Articulation Opportunities:
This qualification provides Namibians with an accessible entry point for theological study. For instance, the Certificate in Christian Ministry (Level 3) opens the possibility of further study in the Certificate of Theology (Level 4).
The outcome of the whole qualification
Holders of the qualification can:
1. State the meaning of their faith in the light of basic Christian theology to grow in godliness
2. Identify the message of the different books and important texts of the Bible;
3. Describe a basic Christian theology for the ministry of building up the church today;
4. Describe a basic Christian theology for the ministry of the church in the community today.
This Certificate is accessible to people with limited formal schooling. In addition to English, it is also offered in Afrikaans, Oshikwanyama, Oshindonga, Otjiherero, and Rukwangali.
